I don’t know about you all but I’ve been in mood for some dystopian reads lately. I don’t know if it’s the current state of American politics, the state of the environment, the rise of right wing extremism across the globe, the growing popularity of anti-intellectualism… I mean really, pick your poison. Whatever the cause, it’s put me in the mood for some seriously apocalyptic storytelling.
So, I reached out to my Facebook tribe and asked them what some of their favorite world ending books were, and this is what they came back with. I’ve only read one of the books on this list so far, Where Late the Sweet Birds Sang (It was very good, but I’m not sure how I feel about the politics of the book), but they all sound awesome. This is what I’ll be feeding my brain for the remainder of 2018, and probably well into 2019 as well, all depending on just how much darkness I can take.
By the way, some of these stories are purportedly pretty dark. Please check the blurb and reviews for any potential trigger warnings you may want to avoid.
